Author

Jan was a magazine editor for over twenty five years and with a busy life style she lacked the time to explore writing from the imagination. After being made redundant in 2012, her career as a fiction writer had a fantastic kick start when her short story 'Five Minutes Ago' won the Hummer Prize for Creative Writing at Chipping Norton Festival.

Jan read the story 'Five Minutes Ago' to an audience of 150 people and it was warmly received. This spurred her on to write more and she completed various courses as part of the learning process.

Since then she has been short-listed for the New Writers South scheme, The Norwich Writers Circle and the Wells Short Story competition amongst others.

Her debut novel, The Seven Letters, is set both in Paris and Oxfordshire. It is available on all platforms. Her second book, The Slow Death of Maxwell Carrick is once again, a split time novel set in Paris and the Cotswolds. It was published in 2019 and, like the Seven Letters, has received tremendous reviews.

Jan has written for a number of local magazines, blogs and ebooks. She has also been commissioned to write articles for Artists and Illustrators magazine.

She illustrated 'Thank You Mr. Bosh, That's Close Enough,' which is available from: www.memoirspublishing.com

Jan was a prize-winner at the 2017 ChipLitFest with her short story, 'Ghost.' She went on to win highly commended in the Olga Sinclair Award with her story, 'Perfect Strangers.'

In 2018, Jan worked in collaboration with theatre-maker, Adrian Brooks in a unique project entitled Allotment where her seven of her stories were performed by actors.

Jan is awaiting publication her third book, details will be announced soon. Sadly Covid 19 has held up  all plans.
