Let me tell you something.

 

When I was a student at college I made a beautiful piece of clay sculpture. I was really pleased with it, it was my first attempt at working with this wonderful medium and I was playing, exploring and actually feeling really positive.

 

The lecturer came along and at first she laughed at my work and then she put her fist through it telling me it was rubbish. I didn't touch clay again for thirty years! Only recently did I begin again and found that with the right help and support I adored this medium. I might never be famous for my sculptures in clay, but I keep trying and I love it.

 

Were you told by someone in your past that you would never be any good at art or writing? Did it destroy your self belief and stop you from trying too?

 

I have trained as a life coach and branched out into the creative sphere helping students with their A-level Art projects, coaching people who are under-taking a degree later in life and helping those who have lost all confidence in their abilities.

 

I have helped one lady (82) in the step by step process of writing her novel. I kept her on the right track guiding and advising her on style, content, format and her own author platform.

My oldest client was now 94 when I met him. He was told he 'couldn't draw' by a teacher when he was fourteen. He didn't pick up a pencil again until he was 93. He hosted his first one man exhibition a year after I began teaching him, it's proof that it's never too late.
